2013 Fall FeatherFest

The Vernon Pigeon and Poultry Club hosted their third Fall Featherfest on September 28^th and 29^th in Armstrong, B.C. on the fairgrounds.  Four hundred and thirty entries were received from as far away as Saskatchewan and Vancouver Island.  The show included bantams, large chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys – but not pigeons this year.

A local Scout group provided a well stocked concession outside the front of the show barn.  Inside held the show, Champion Row, a silent auction of quality birds and a sale area.

The host hotel was the Armstrong Inn where a banquet for twenty-five exhibitors was held on Saturday night. Sunday morning at the show site before coup-out, an Awards Presentation was took place and over $500 of prize money was handed out.    Dave Anderson from California was the judge and, from all reports, he did a fine job.  Dave was ably assisted by his clerk, Mike Kelliher. Heather Hayes and Dudley DeLeenheer were co-chairpersons, Connie DeLeenheer was the show secretary, and George Zimmerman the show treasurer.  The show committee was very happy with all the help provided by an energetic group of volunteers.
